Updated Methods

I'm excited to say I'm now able to add another layer of confidence with the addition of a thermal conductivity testing device. With this tool, I'm able to more accurately assess and confirm the gemstone materials I offer, which can often be sourced from smaller operations, individuals, and from recycled or self-mined stones.

Thermal conductivity can most importantly tell the difference between an imitation of plastic or glass, and authentic mineral material, with a simple test that does not mark the surface of the stone. Instead of using the hardness scale for stones that are already beautifully faceted or polished and risking scratches, I can use this tool. I can also use it paired with more traditional identification methods on rough material to very reliably indicate the mineral content.
